Home extension

Underfloor Heating

Many home extensions and renovations include underfloor heating (UFH) for better comfort and efficiency. Liquid screeds are ideal as they flow around pipes, ensuring even heat distribution. Traditional sand & cement screeds can also be used with UFH but require careful installation to prevent thermal inefficiencies.

Final Floor Finishes & Screeding

The choice of screed depends on the final floor finish:

Tiles & Stone Flooring

  • Requires a perfectly level and strong screed.
  • Self-levelling screeds or traditional sand & cement screeds work best.

Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) & Laminate

  • Needs a smooth subfloor to prevent visible imperfections.
  • Best with liquid screeds or self-levelling compounds.

Engineered & Solid Wood Flooring

  • Requires a dry, stable screed to prevent moisture issues.
  • Fast-drying screeds help speed up the installation process.

Carpet & Soft Flooring

  • Traditional sand & cement screed provides a strong base.
  • Must be fully dry and level before installation.
